Hand turned wood bowls

from $20.00

My artisan made wood bowls come in a wide variety of colors, sizes, shapes, and functions. I focus on utilizing wood from the ecosystems around me, rather than imported tropical (and often endangered) wood. In many cases I glean scrap or waste wood that otherwise would have no use. But in the case of walnut I have to purchase it from a local farm which drives walnut prices up a little bit.

Most of my bowls tend to fall in a more decorative style of bowl than mass-produced ones you might find in the store. I treat all of my bowls with a food-grade mineral oil and beeswax finish so that all of them can hold dry or cold foods like snacks and appetizers. However some woods, like redwood or pine are not particularly good at holding liquid, especially hot liquid. Woods that do hold up to warmer liquid like soup are bay and walnut. All wood bowls, like cutting boards should occasionally be oiled with a food grade oil.

The order form here is to guide you towards your desired product, but in some cases a further conversation may be necessary to hone in on what exactly you’re looking for. Below are some guidelines for ordering:

  • Gaming trays only come in medium size, but can be made from any wood selection available in the menu.

  • Some bowls are in stock, whereas others I will have to produce them which will delay shipment. In particular larger bowls I generally only have one or two at a time as they take much more time to produce.

  • Some woods, like the Monterey Cypress are harder to get and may take some time for me to acquire as they don’t grow in my immediate area.

Shipment fees will be assessed post production as it depends on the size, weight, and distance the bowl is being sent to.
